Gold American Eagle Coin

The Gold American Eagle is one of the world's most popular gold bullion coins. While the series was first minted in 1986, the coin received a significant design update in 2021, refreshing its reverse side for the first time in over three decades. Struck from a durable 22-karat gold alloy (.9167 fineness), the coin is alloyed with silver and copper to enhance its resistance to scratches and wear. Notably, the gold used to mint these coins is sourced exclusively from the United States.

Design (2021 to Present):

Obverse (Heads): Features the iconic "Lady Liberty" design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. She holds a torch and an olive branch, symbolizing enlightenment and peace, with the U.S. Capitol building at her feet. The design is set against the rays of a rising sun, surrounded by 50 stars, with the word "LIBERTY" and the year of issue inscribed.

Reverse (Tails): Showcases a powerful new design by U.S. Mint Medallic Artist Jennie Norris. It presents a close-up portrait of an American eagle's head, capturing a gaze of wisdom and pride. According to the designer, the intent was to reflect the wisdom and pride passed down through generations of Americans. The reverse also includes the coin's denomination and weight, the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST," as well as the designers' initials (JN and RG).

Historical Context:

From its inception in 1986 until 2021, the coin featured a different reverse design depicting a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying towards a nest containing a female eagle and her eaglets. The 2021 redesign marks a new chapter for this classic bullion coin, modernizing its imagery while maintaining its status as a cornerstone of gold investment
