The 2017 Silver Panda marks the second year of a significant change for this beloved series. In 2016, the Chinese Mint transitioned from the traditional 1 ounce weight to the metric system, replacing it with this 30 gram (.9645 oz) Silver Panda while maintaining the same .999 fine silver purity.

The obverse features the iconic Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, encircled by the Chinese inscription "People's Republic of China" along with the 2017 year date.

The reverse showcases a single panda resting peacefully with a branch of bamboo, continuing the cherished tradition of annual design changes that make this series so highly collectible. Only once, in 2002, did the design remain unchanged from the previous year.

This sovereign coin carries a face value of 10 yuan and is backed by the Chinese government. It is also eligible for Precious Metals IRAs.
